Maidstone Symphony Orchestra

Darren began playing with MSO aged 13 experiencing a healthy repertoire of orchestral music under the direction of Brian Wright.

Norton's Hot Eight Jazz Band

Under the direction of school teacher John Hall, this group achieved great success both in the UK and America. Eight students of the Norton Knatchbull School in Ashford (Kent) began learning and memorising standard trad. jazz tunes including Buddy Bolden's Blues, When the Saints go Marching In, and even I'm the King of the Swingers from Disney's "The Jungle Book", and with a lot of support from the school gained prizes at the National Festival of Music for Youth on numerous occasions. This led to appearances at Hyde Park for the BBC Proms in the Park, the Royal Albert Hall as part of the School's Proms, for Livery dinners at London's Guildhall, and a well-received tour to Washington D.C. It was thanks to this group, as well as other commitments within the school's music departmental activities that led to Darren being awarded the NKS Prize for Music in 2007.

The group still meet to play at functions and welcome any bookings. To book this group, please contact Darren Moore at <darrenmoore90@googlemail.com>
